Read How Much - always read what the minimum number of coins is.

Use your winnings from the regular slots if you like to play the progressives. Progressive slots have a much lower return than regular slots - often as low as 80% (compared to the very high 90's from regular slots at most online casinos). This is how the progressive jackpots grow!

Single-Payline Slots - stay away from multi-payline slots. Playing multi-playline lowers the odds significantly.

Always play the maximum bet - You can only win the big jackpots if you have are playing the maximum number of coins. This is the rule for progressives! It would sure be painful if the symbols came up for a $200,000.00 jackpot, only to find you've won $2,000 or so because you weren't playing the maximum coins.

Know your limits - Set a firm amount that you are going to bet, and quit when you reach it. It is far too easy to keep depositing money when you're playing online. Stick to your budget!

In this day and age the computerized random number generator controls our modern day version of the "one armed bandit". From the moment it is turned on, the RNG starts to generate numbers, regardless of whether or not it is being played. It will even generate jackpots while no one is playing and we will never know that it has, because no coins or credits were played. - You have to "warm" up the machine
But....these new fangled computerized machines are never off! (See myth #1) - It is my lucky one
Again, read above. Every spin is completely random, and the result of every machine is uniformely random. Just because you have been lucky with one particular machine in no way affects your luck on that one or any other. - Higher Denomination Slots have a better payout or more frequent payouts
All machines are programmed with payout schedules. While the higher denomination slots do have a higher payout, this is offset by the money you put into the machine. - You should play fewer than maximum coins until you start winning
This myth comes form the notion than you can prime the machine - get it warmed up and set to roll you a jackpot. This misconception can prove costly, though, should the slot machine actually land on a jackpot - and you get a fraction of what you would have gotten if you had played maximum coins. If your bankroll can't afford the maximum coins at one machine, move to a machine with a smaller maximum bet.

One of the strangest slot myths has to do with how to create hot machines. It goes like this: If you want a machine to get hot, just put in a warm coin. Players have been known to heat their coins to the point where they lose their skin when they touch it. Does this work? Ummm......no.
