7 Card Stud Opening Hands
7 Card Stud Opening hands: Three of a Kind. The best opening hand a player can wish for in 7 Card Stud is a set. 3 of a kind is hard to beat. If your opening cards are a set, don't scare away the other players by coming on too strong. You will want to keep as many players in as long as possible in order to feed the pot. Although it is possible that another player will draw a better hand, the odds are strongly in your favor.
7 Card Stud Opening Hands: High Pair. The next best opening hand is a high pair - 10's or better. Since a pair is more likely to be beat than a set, open with a bet or a raise with the intent of causing other players to fold before they get a lucky draw. Keep an eye on your opponents' exposed cards for the possiblity of a higher pair, and moderate your betting/raising accordingly. If both of the paired cards are face down, you'll find that not as many (if any) fold. Should you be dealt a set, or even a full house, the pot is very likely to grow for you. If one of your pair is faced up, opponents who have mediocre hands will be more apt to fold, thus rendering a smaller pot should you win the hand.
7 Card Stud Opening Hands: Three Suited. If your initial cards are all suited, you don't start off with a hand. What you have is a drawing hand. Proceed with caution, paying close attention to your opponents' exposed cards. If any cards of the suit your are drawing to are already present on the table, that lowers your odds of drawing a flush.
7 Card Stud Opening Hands: Three Card Straight. As with a starting hand of 3 suited, when you find your opening hand is 3 to a straight, keep an eye on your opponents exposed cards and Proceed with caution.
With most casino games, there is a house edge built into the games - that's how they make their money. In Poker, there is no built in edge, rather, the poker room takes in a rake to make their profit. The rake is usually 5% of the pot or less. to and leave and click to join. What you are hoping to find are "fish" - players who are bad. What you want to avoid is playing at a table where the other players are better, and YOU are the fish.
In other words, if you find yourself at a table playing against strong players, you can click "leave table"e; and get the hell out of Dodge. One of the most common mistakes many players make, is to stay at a table, waiting for their luck to turn. Forget that. If, after a few hands you have a gut feeling that you are over-matched, you probably are, and your luck isn't likely to turn.
